Smart Notes Skill

Most "AI note-taker" prompts do one thing: turn text into a formatted file. That falls apart once a whole course builds up — new material overlaps with old notes, some topics never get tested, and flashcards pile up without any sense of what is sticking.

Smart Notes behaves like a notebook a diligent student would keep. It checks an index before writing, so a near-duplicate topic extends an existing file instead of forking a new one. It reads the whole source before writing a note, plans how the new topic links to what already exists, and keeps a gap tracker of what is weak.

Each subject gets one folder: an index of every topic with its status and links, a progress file with onboarding answers and quiz history, and one note per topic. Flashcards get more cards and a wider spread of angles on weak topics, and a quiz only runs when asked for one.

No dependencies, no account, no server — it runs entirely as a Claude Skill against local Markdown files.
